re: what a day!

CRW,

I am so sorry to hear what a horrible day you all had! That's terrible. I subbed for a few months, and its absolutely the worst job in educating (of course my opinion only! ) I was so happy to get a room of my
own!!

I hope you don't re-think the whole teaching thing. Subbing is a lot different then having your own room, doing the things the way you want, ect.

I feel horrible that the teachers were not very nice to you. Thats just terrible!!! I can't understand why some teachers are that way. I teach sped and we have four teacher teaching together in our room. When a sub comes in for any

one of us, we have to (and we willing do so) pitch in to help that sub out, because ours is a room filled with behavior kids! I don't know why some teachers are that way with subs...subs our life lines...educating our kids couldn't happen without all their hard work! I have to admit sometimes I am hesisitant to offer help...a few years ago, I witnessed a sub from the room next door having a lot of problems with this kid, who was throwing himself on the floor, screaming so loud that he could be heard on the other end of the school. I knew she was a sub, and walked up to her and asked if I could be of any assistance with this child so she could get back to her room. She put her hands on her hips, and just yelled, "I KNOW HOW TO DO MY JOB, SO STOP TELLING ME!" I didn't know what to say, and felt horrible. In no way did I want to undermine her abilites...its just we all have problems and could use some help. I apologized and fumbled back to my room. I know she was having a really stressful time, and chalked it up for that...but I don't give help unless its asked for now. Please know that all teachers are not gossip mongering unhelpful bodies that could care less. I guess some people are, but rest assured that they are teachers out there who would love to lend a helping hand.

I hope things go better for your next assignment, and don't give up!!! Best of luck!
