what a day

Please don't feel like a fool! The school failed you and they are the fools! What grade was this? Most of the time I do not have role sheets or seating charts. I usually make my own seating chart and have the kids fill
in their first name. Ask for role sheets from the office if it's necessary. I've never been left with absolutely no classroom materials before.

Sometimes it helps to appeal to the human side of the class(if they have one - ha) You might say "Look, now that I know this is Career Assessment class someone tell me what you did yesterday or let's talk about careers such as being a substitute

teacher!" A lot of the time, talking to kids about "real world" things can catch their interest and start a discussion. If there's absolutely nothing to do, tell them it's a study hall and do other homework. If the administration gets upset, ask them where are the emergency lesson plans kept?

I hope your next job is smooth sailing! You deserve it.
