I use the hmmm...., that's interesting or the "Really, you think?". Give them your most contemplative look and then end it. Maybe, you could explain to us why it's amusing or appropriate? Quite honestly, I wouldn't feel comfortable eating you, would anyone else? Could you really eat Jack? Start serious and then laugh about it.

You turn the tables on that student. She or he becomes the deterrent to their learning, and they realize it fast. Plus, if I am feeling really petty, I'll say, "For homework tonight, let's think about why it's appropriate to eat people. Brainstorm 25 responses and we'll write a 5-paragraph essay on it tomorrow. Make sure you bring your notes" Then the class really hates Jack and not you.
