What to do?
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
Just one piece of advice -- ask before you start your first day at any new school how you are expected to deal with this type of situation. I often see messages from teachers who send their kids to another teacher's room. That simply isn't done in this area. My feeling is that if he is disrupting my class, I have no business inflicting him upon you and your class. Our procedure is referral to the time-out room or to the principal. So much depends on the specific school's procedures. I would make a point of asking before the problem arises.

That being said, I think you handled things well and the secretary was completely out of line. I would make a point of speaking with the principal.
