Sharon, I think you responded well to the difficulties you faced on Friday. I believe the secretary was wrong to act rudely toward you. You should ask the principal what he or she expects you to do in that situation. Perhaps
the teachers don't support one another in that school. We do.
If a child acts up in my class and then is spoken to again they know they are automatically removed to the teacher next door, and vice versa. This takes away the audience the child was misbehaving for, and generally gives them a good time-out space. It works like a charm for us. You were very fair and supportive with the
students. You were also right to make the regular classroom teacher aware of that student's mention of suicide. That is not something that can be taken lightly. Good job. Don't let the turkeys get you down.
