Yes - here's my experience

Clip to ScrapBook
I had a student last trimester who went from an A- to a B. I didn't notify the mother and she was fuming. I told her that first trimester had a lot of review/solidification of 4th grade math. Many things in the second trimester were new to this year. Turns out the child was also not showing the parent the tests. I never thought to contact the mother as it wasn't a huge drop. I have previously contacted parents if students dropped a full grade or more. From now on I will probably contact any parent for any slipping grades regardless of the reason.
