Clip to ScrapBook
Kids that are exempted from TAKS have to have been in the country LESS than three years and NEVER have taken a TAKS test.

For example, if Jose moves in from Mexico he has an exemption for 3 years (no matter what grade he is in). However, say he is really good in Math so his second year they decide to let him take it. He now is no longer exempted even though he has only been here 2 years.

Even our special ed testing is done different. We used to have more kids taking alternative testing (SDAA). Now ALMOST everyone takes TAKS with a very few taking TAKS Alt *at least that has been my experience.

If someone moves in the DAY of TAKS from anywhere in the US, they take the test.

Crazy, I know...
