It depends on the purpose of the read aloud
By m&mTeach

Clip to ScrapBook
I will do a read aloud 2 or 3 times a day.

I will stop and chart only when it's a read aloud that is focused on a specific strategy or skill in which I want my students to engage.

At a separate time of the day, I will read aloud and just have a natural conversation with them. Usually, I'll pick books that either: We will revisit later for some strategy work or books that I know my students will enjoy listening to but that I will not revisit later.
