resource room
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
In the three states I have worked in--PA, NC, and PA--"resource room" is what you call the room where children who qualify for special education services go for help. It's conducted as a pull-out program. The child who is part of the resource room program may leave the regular classroom for an hour a day to meet with a special education certified teacher who helps work with him/her at a level which meets the student's needs.

Other related terminology you may hear is "self-contained." In this case, the child is engaged full-time (as opposed to pull-out) in attending special education services. He spends the day in that particular setting with a special education teacher.
