tattling

Clip to ScrapBook
That is a good idea. So is discussing it. They need to know they can work things out and not always involve us. The school district I student taught in had it written into their curriculum that we teach kindergartners to "use your words". So, if they didn't like Jimmy looking at them sideways, I would tell them to use their words and tell him they didn't like it. It became automatic for me to tell them that and even the shyest student learned to tell the aggressor how they felt. I always kept an eye on the aggressor after that too. Sometimes all they are really asking for is permission to tell the other person to knock it off. And for some, that doesn't even occur to them! They've always been looked out for and had someone else to solve it for them.
