A sticky situation...
By NJ Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I was tenured when I was looking at another job. I was glad I wound up telling my boss (whom I couldn't stand and who couldn't stand me) that I was interviewing, because my future principal did call the district. The odd
are your future boss will be calling your present one, and if it's a neighboring district, they network and probably know each other. I agree with one of the previous posters that if you could possibly wait till you were tenured, I would. That way, you could be up front with your present principal and they couldn't get rid of you. In my state, they would be able to get rid of you without
a hearing if you were untenured, and if you need the job and feel there would be reprecussions, I wouldn't risk it right now. It's a tough choice, and I know what it's like to work for someone who is difficult.
