Calling the teacher

I'd relax - keep your head and you'll be fine :-). Since you know in advance you might call the teacher at the school (before or after school, for preference), and talk to him/her, so you're not disturbing them at home. I'd agree with Peg that you may not want to do it on a regular basis since most of the time you won't know why the teacher is gone.

I have called teachers on a couple of occasions at their request, and on another occasion when I was subbing a middle school special ed class and had _no_ plans left for me at all. But unless I'm requested to or have something like the sp. ed. situation where I'm without plans, I usually don't call.
