I already have the going away gift selected.

Clip to ScrapBook
I was talking to my principle about her attendance issues again this week. I think we were having this discussion on her 14TH!!!! day of being late. On this day I told my principal that I was going to get her an alarm clock
for her going away gift. I was going to have in engraved with the words, "Get your A$$ out of bed!!!!" He thought that was hilarious. I really don't intend to get her a going away gift.
I may have the kids write her some notes or something, but I'm not spending any money on her.

I do have a cohort that has done a ton of work chairing a committee that I am on. She
kind of got stuck in a situation where she knew the most about how to do the work, so she had to do the work. I felt bad about not being knowledgeable enough to help more. That's why I'm going to go today and buy her a huge gift card to somewhere. I haven't decided where yet. Any suggestions?

Someone asked about my age................... I am a very youthful and energetic .............. 39............. She has a daughter who is only a couple of years younger than I am. I think she sees me as being too young, since I am close in age to her daughter, to be intimidating or even worthy of professional respect. I also think that when I give her advice she sees me as making a "cute" attempt at being powerful. I just get that impression from her. She even said out loud in front of the kids that she doesn't care what "people" (that would be me and her advisor) write down on her evaluations. She told them that she has confidence in her teaching abilities and knows she is doing a good job no matter what anyone else says. She's just one of those people who doesn't respect the teaching profession. She's one of those who thinks that since she has been to school then she can teach, because anyone can do it, right? I'm telling you, when you encounter someone with absolutely zero natural teaching ability it is alarming. Probably the majority of us spend our days with people who are similar to us and do things naturally like we do. You don't even think about it. It's just how teachers do their jobs, right? You just kind of know how to do it after a while. Well, when you come across someone who doesn't "have" that natural ability that we all kind of take for granted, that person sticks out like a rainbow striped zebra. We all know those things are fruity flavored and are the first to be devoured in the wild.
