I think it would be horrible.

Clip to ScrapBook
I've taught first grade for 17 years, and I cannot imagine trying to teach first graders what they need to learn those first 3 months of school with new kindergarteners in the room. The beginning of the year for kindergarten is a very social time. They need that. They need lots of activities that teach social skills and routines. The first three months (especially) of first grade is a time to really focus on the grassroots of reading. They need to be able to without a lot of distractions. That's not going to happen when they are in the room with new kindergarteners who are noisy and needing lots of personal attention. Even though they are close together in age, their needs are very different.
