Learning in school socks
By Skyler

Clip to ScrapBook
Up to a few years ago I couldn't make out why some kids persistently take their shoes off in class. I used to call for them to put shoes back immediately, since I thought that may have been a distraction.
However I found
out that youngsters experiencing angst or anxiety tend much more to get restless in long sittings, and their concentration is virtually nil.

Kids slipping shoes off or playing about with shoes is a clear sign that something wrong happens. They're just trying to realease tension,
If students feel relaxed, the learning process is made easier.

Even more, when kids'
feet cool down by touching the floor through their socks, the brain oxygenates because of the enhanced circulation of blood. Give it a try.

Schoolkids learning in socks are much more awake and co-operative.
That's probably one of the secrets of success in the Scandinavian educational system.

I not only let students to take their shoes off during silent reading or video-watching time but the whole class if kids want to, provided their shoes are close to feet, ready to be slipped into.
