Ugh...
By Buggy4Books

Clip to ScrapBook
That is so disheartening. Is this your first student teacher? As a student teacher myself, I'm truly disappointed in how some student teachers (as well as some certified teachers) decide that this is still like a college
class that you can blow off. It scares me to know that this student teacher will most likely graduate and get either a teaching placement or substitute teaching placement where her lack of enthusiasm will continue to grow. I am always amazed at how many people still believe that teaching is the easiest job. Teaching is a way of life, not just a clock in/clock out shift. Many of us put our
heart and souls into what we do and make sure we are helping our students grow along with ourselves.

I'm sure you're doing exactly what you should be and using this time to learn from this not-so-great experience, but I hope this isn't a deciding factor in whether or not you should get another student teacher. I can tell you that so many of us truly appreciate the extra work and time cooperating teachers put in to help us become better educators. Your efforts WILL be put to good use by someone who has a PASSION for teaching and learning. :)
