I'm not really disagreeing with the idea of giving points for effort. I think that could be very appropriate at times. I just commented because we aren't allowed to do that at my school. As dumb as it sounds, I couldn't just give a kid 2 points for making an effort. I have to be able to show my principal where the grade came from. As in, extra credit (which didn't occur to me when I posted earlier, that sounds like it might be the way to go) or something similar. I know it's a dumb rule and I'm not saying we never bend it LOL It's just that if I'm going by the book that's the way it's supposed to be at my school. BTW, in our district 69 and below is an F.
