At my school I would get in hot water for that. I have one kiddo who still cannot do borrowing. He's trying but still hasn't got it. So his math grade is low right now. He's never had trouble with any other concept in math and has good grades in all other subjects. As much as I would like to bump him up, I know that wouldn't fly with my principal. I would have to be able to justify that grade to her (numerically I mean). And really, since this skill is required for the grade level, I can't see letting it slip by. I can understand where you're coming from, though. It's frustrating to watch a "good" student struggle with a concept.
