Phrase it the right way

I think that if you phrase it in a positive way, you might get better results. Instead of talking about how you hated your last job, mention how you missed the kids and the classroom, and that you missed working for such great supervisors, etc. I would also consider how willing you might be to work in any position available until you can build their confidence in you that you won't leave in the middle of the year again.
Chances are, if they thought highly of you last time, they still do and would not want to loose you or turn you away. Good luck! :)
