We have..
By LaVerne

Clip to ScrapBook
2 Title teachers in our building, plus each one goes to one other different school, during their days. They are divided between 1-2 and 3-5 levels. Our school is almost 450 students.

I am the upper level teacher.
I like to think I am appreciated by most of the 17 teachers I deal with, and I know most of my kids like to come to me. I was regular ed before so I know 'their side of the fence' as well as mine, so I think it helps with communication. I am learning you can't please everyone and not everyone wants to understand the 'shoes' you walk in...the rules and regulations of Title I.

We
have no reading coach. I am the person they come to for input and advice...those that want to.

I think good communication between teachers is the key to making things work. Also patience and understanding of what the other has to go through. We all have different challenges. Keeping the best interests of the kids in mind....without losing your cool over the fact that as a special teacher, you are sometimes forgotten about.

Even within our state and region things are done differently. I am finding that I have a lot of freedom to what I do, but all within the rules and regs of the program. I am loving it.
