interviews
By Jalon

Clip to ScrapBook
Have been in a school environment (subbing?) enough to see what goes on? Read up on the district, if you haven't already, to help you better understand the demographics (high free/reduced lunch, etc.) Have an idea in your
head about classroom management and how you would handle various scenarios. Think about how you would communicate with parents, and that ever present "difficult" parent. Think about your content area strengths and weaknesses....what will make you shine in the classroom? Do you know what Reading, Math, Science, etc. programs are used at the school?

There's no way to predict
the questions, but if you run things through your head ahead of time you'll be better prepared.

And, do be prepared for a question that will just stop you in your tracks because it's so left field (happened to me at my first interview for my first teaching job!). If you go totally blank, just be honest and say you'd need a little more time to think about that one before responding, etc. In interviews they really are not trying to stump you, but sometimes interviewers forget how nervous it is for the one being interviewed! Good luck!
