I am so glad the visit helped eliminate the butterflies. However, I would caution against allowing them to evaluate the subs. Instead I would probably discuss content and procedure. If you concentrate on the activities and the curriculum, you will avoid the of impression of sub-bashing. I know that would not be your intent...they have a hard enough job as it is. It is a poor precedent to allow children to think they have that right. They feel so entitled already. Since you are "starting a new year" :) why not look for ideas on sites that have beginning of the year activities.
