supplies
By AddieJ

Clip to ScrapBook
kermit - that's a good point to make about the big pile of things & everyone wanting their things. I think that issue would come up more in older grades where maybe there's more variety in items sent in. Our supplies are
all pretty standard so I've never had the problem with a student complaining about sharing their things. I explain that all their supplies will be stored in the classroom and when we need more, I'll get them out. They don't get to store their own supplies. (This is for kindergarten.)

All my students use the thick yellow pencils so I haven't had the problem of special pencils.
If a student gets a special pencil from the treasure chest they can either 1. bring it home to use for home projects or 2. put it in the community basket on their table. I will tell the table that so & so received a special pencil and they will need to ask him/her if they can use it (and he/she isn't forced to share, just encouraged :)) If there's any problems, the pencil goes home.

As for crayons (bring in 4 boxes each), all my students are asked to buy the thick crayola crayons so there's not a lot of variety.

Everyone brings in two notebooks & three folders, which I label and three 1 inch binders with clear covers. The binders are returned at the end of the year full of work (one is our Literacy Journal and one is our Continent Book.) The third binder is for our BEE books.
Other supplies are pretty standard: kleenex boxes (3 boxes), hand sanitizer (three bottles), glue sticks (4), markers (1 box), watercolors (2 sets), paint shirt (1), sandwich bags (2 boxes), etc.

Usually the only things I send home requests for more of during the year are glue sticks and kleenex boxes.

The supply list is sent home at the beg of the summer with other school info.
