a little love goes a long way
By AddieJ

Clip to ScrapBook
Reading the other posts put a tear in my eye because it made me reflect on all the students that I've come in contact with over the years while teaching in a very low-income school. Yes, I had lots of behavior issues when
I first started out BUT I showed the students I cared and I meant what I said - THAT I WOULD STICK TO MY WORD - a promise they don't always hear outside school - and I've had so many great experiences I wouldn't trade for the world. You could offer me a larger salary at a suburban school where the student don't have the same issues that mine right now do and I don't think I'd take the
job because my students need teachers who CARE about them and their needs. The suburban school would have a whole new set of issues and problems.
My kids LOVE school and they love learning and I'm happy to say that I had a part in that. Then they go home and share their enthusiasm with their families and I've also seen what a great impact that has on the parents.

Who knows the impact of one caring teacher - how far his/her influence can reach...the old saying is right, "A little love goes a long ways!"

happy teaching! ;)
