Clip to ScrapBook
I taught in a private school where everyone had more money than God before I began teaching in an inner-city school BY CHOICE. Kids are kids. Ruby Payne is an excellent resource - many of these children don't realize there is a different way to live - they only know proverty and depravity - I was never more rewarded when I worked with these children - I have so many wonderful memories and some of these children still stay in touch with me. As with any group of children, it can become frustrating at times. Ruby Payne really clears up a lot of the "mystic" surrounding poverty and helps you understand and deal with issues you will encounter. Good luck in your endeavor - it will be a wonderful experience.
