Clip to ScrapBook
Our principal requires us to give "morning work" since our students start arriving at 6:50 A.M. (yep, you read that correctly!) and non-duty teachers do not have to sign in until 7:15. I have a wonderful book that I use (name
is at school). I copy one quarter's worth at a time and make a morning work folder for each child. They are required to complete one page each morning. I have overhead transparencies of each sheet that I use when we correct the work as a class. It is a great way to reinforce skills and introduce new concepts. This book contains most of the same standards I am required to teach in all
subject areas and has been a great springboard for lots of impromptu mini-lessons! Occasionallly I will collect the morning work and either check it myself, or use it as a grade if that page is full of things I think they should be able to do independently. If the work is not completed by the time we check it together each morning, that person has to finish at recess.
