I bought an old love seat at a garage sale and put it in my room for reading. The kids LOVED reading on it - until that family of mice came in for the winter and took up residence in my love seat.. :-(

I've also used GIANT pillows, bean bag chairs, etc. I had a friend who put a little pop-up tent in her classroom. Two of our kindergarten classes have lofts built in them (teachers paid to have them built) and the students can read in the space underneath with pillows and such or they can climb up and read on the top of them.
