When I Was ___
By Phyllis

Clip to ScrapBook
I taught 4th grade, and one thing we did near the end of the year was create a booklet called When I Was Ten. It included some pages of unfinished sentences, some essays: Sometimes I Worry, My Best Friend, Fun With My Family, My Best Vacation, Best Book I've Read, When I am a Parent, One Place I Want to Go, My Siblings, etc. You get the idea. This booklet was placed inside a zip-lock bag together with a letter to the parent asking them to put it away where it will be unseen until the student is 25. Then it is to be given to them.

Each year, I hear from some students who have opened their packet and are so glad to have it. Of course, some parents lose it, forget it, or never put it away.
