I've taught both

I taught 2nd for 10 years and am now in my second year of 1st. I think 2nd is an awesome grade for the reasons others have already stated. I would probably choose 2nd in your case because it is more of a change from K. I do love 1st though. The amount of progress they make and the changes you see in them throughout the year is amazing. They are ready to be "big kids" and embrace it whole-heartedly. They mature an awful lot (well, most of them do :rolleyes:) too that summer between K and 1st. 1st is a whole lot of fun and I've found that I personally enjoy 1st more than 2nd. Have fun deciding!
