Pto

Clip to ScrapBook
We also have a very good and active PTO. Here are some of the things they do or have done in the past.
* They have a "store" that they open up every Friday for students. They can purchase pencils, small trinkets, at Christmas
they sell parent gifts.
* They handle boxtop collection and counting and sending them in.
* They handle all of our fundraisers. (cookie dough, QSP)
* We also have had a silver war. AKA Penny wars. The bank charged lots of money to roll pennies so we decided a silver war would be better.
* They give everyone a back to school bag of goodies with supplies. (Ex: hand
sanitizer, gum, bandaids, etc....)
* Stock our teacher work room with pens, pencils, scissors, sticky notes, etc.....
* Give us a lunch for teacher appreciation week.
* Give all teachers a certificate for a local resteraunt.
* Spaghetti dinner and silent auction. Local businesses donate items for people to bid on. Also each classroom makes up a basket or include items such as ART teacher for the day, Principal for the day, be on the morning broadcast, etc.... (Those are a big hit!)
* Fundraisers are usually for something specific so that everyone knows what they are getting for their money - playground equipment, climbing wall for PE, etc.....
* We have also done carnivals. Set up fun stuff for kids, but also rent out booths for $25 each. Crafters set up shop! Each grade level is given a booth and teachers will work and get to keep the money they earn. (Face painting, baked goods, etc...)
*Basically if we see a need that PTO can help with we ask. We recently asked for a supply of thermometers in our work room. We now have that. We have asked for a pencil sharpener in the workroom and gotten that.
I hope this idea is helpful to you. :)
