In our school the PTA are our chief fundraisers. We need all sorts of things. In another school in our area the PTA is brilliant. They do heaps of fundraising and then they donate money to each classroom to be used by the teachers. That is really great as everyone gets a share, and everyone can use it for the best need for their class. They also run lots of school wide events, sell treat foods at lunchtimes, and generally support the teachers. A supportive PTA can be hugely beneficial for your school, an unsupportive one can be huge trouble (monthly meetings to moan about the staff??????? I have seen it done!). Best of luck, I hope your PTA does a great job.
