Books my third graders loved . . .
By m&mTeach

Clip to ScrapBook
My students really enjoyed books with layered characters and powerful themes:

All books by Eve Bunting- Fly Away Home, Sunshine Home, The Wednesday Surprise, Cheyenne Again, Rudi's Pond

We started the year with The Chalk Box Kid (I think this is a 2nd grade level book, but they fell in love with the character in this one).

We finished the year with The Tale of Despereaux. I initially thought the book was going to be way too difficult (many of my students were struggling readers) but when I finished reading the book, my students applauded! In my 14 years of teaching, I had never seen this happen. They loved, loved, loved that book.
