read to them
By teachnlots

Clip to ScrapBook
I think reading to them gets them hooked. Exposing them to lots of good literature and genres. Getting excited about reading and showing them how important reading is in their lives. Allowing them time each day to read whatever they want to alone, with you, with a partner, or a older grade buddy, with another teacher, or parent. Talking to them about what you read to them and what they are reading. Giving them time to share their reading, either verbally, written, or illustrated. Instilling a love of reading however or whenever possible. :D
