Print off all the posts that Happy Hiker has posted in regard to her ST. Make it into a booklet and tell your ST on the first day that it is required readingfor his/her homework. Title it "A Student Teacher from Hell." Then have them make a list of at least ten Do's and Don'ts for student teachers.
I had a wonderful CT. The most helpful thing she did with me was the daily journal. It was just a spiral notebook. She got the front pages and I took the backs. She would write notes to welcome me, encourage me, make suggestions, review classroom management strategies, remind me of expectations | | or upcoming school events, etc. On the backs of her pages, I wrote questions, reflected on lessons, thanked her, made suggetions for things I wanted to try, bounced ideas, commented on specific students' needs, or just funny things that happened. Every day she wrote something, and I took it home and wrote something every night. It was great because we didn't always have a lot of time during the school day to carry on long conversations, and I looked forward to sitting down with her notes each evening, when I had time to take it all in, and reflect before I responded. At the end of the semester it was a lovely keepsake that I still have to this day.
