I have been teaching for 25 years and have moved positions several times just because I felt I needed a change. I moved from middle school to elementary school after 20 years of teaching. In our district getting low level students to "meet" on the state tests is the focus so having a good talented teacher in those positions would be desired. I know if one of those positions was open and I wanted it, my principal would switch me in a heartbeat.
