    Special Ed Students

I certainly agree that you shouldn't take it out on the kids. I find that my district doesn't correctly describe the students situation. I was severely kicked in a class for orthopedically challenged students which contained one very emotionally disturbed child. I felt sorry for him and me! I have a good friend who is a special ed teacher and she agrees that this is a problem. (She also knew that student and said he should not be in that class.)

I try to avoid emotionally disturbed student populations because I don't feel I am qualified but sometimes they are included in a class for say, communicatively handicapped. I don't think that is fair for any of the students or the teachers.

I took a course in Positive Discipline which was aimed at mainstream students but has helped. I had a little boy scream in total rage at me the other day because I asked him to please share. I was happy that I managed to calm him down in a manner that allowed us to be happy for the rest of the day.

Many of the special ed teachers cannot get a sub at all.
