I found the post, thanks for pointing it out to me. I think that if a person is not comfortable subbing in a sped. room they should ethically turn it down. If you don't, you are sorta getting what you ask for if you know
you hate it!

I am a sped teacher, and I know how hard it is to teach these kids. Many of them have horrible behaviors, but for most of them, it's not their fault. All but one of my kids really want to learn, try hard, but have bad days. I agree that sometimes kids with special needs do get away with nothing short of murder. But, that is hardly the kids fault...its lack of support from

administration or at home or a number of other things. I feel that most sped kids care capable of doing work if a teacher is absent, it just takes a little patience..and if your "normal" kid came home from school telling you that they watched movies all day, I think you will be a little more then upset. I would be!!! Yes, the sped system is screwed up...but let's not take it out on the kids. Yes they can be pains in the rear, but if you can't handle it, and no that...please don't sub there!
