book choice
By BookMuncher

Clip to ScrapBook
I think a parent book club is great idea... like the other posters, I can imagine who would/wouldn't sign up at my school. I also agree with bandmom-- if you want parents to see that children understand books the same way
they do, then pick enjoyable adult books. Throughout your discussions, you can sprinkle in conversations about how it is they go about understanding. You can introduce the strategies in the beginning and refer back to them throughout the books. Then, maybe you could have a parent/child book club where everyone reads the same books and participates on equal ground (I run these at our school).

Our school was thinking of getting several copies of 7 Keys at every school so that we could loan them out as necessary. Maybe if you had some, parents could take turns taking it home.

I hope you'll keep us informed on how it goes!
