nice note. I wouldn't get into a drawn out explanation--just explain that the parent of another child has asked to borrow the book from you and it was accidentally placed on the wrong child's desk. If your principal is already cool about it, then I wouldn't fret too much over the parent. Maybe she'll chill out and come back in to talk to you about it. Anyone can make a mistake!
