Sharon, don't do it. I took over long term substitute assignment that I left afer one day because the room was chaotic (to put it nicely). It was really a hell hole spewing devil children. A substitute teacher before
me really wanted to teach there, but found out that it was horrible. She was later interviewed and quoted by a major newspaper about the reason this public school cannot keep teachers. She gave them an earful. She will NEVER work here again in any type of public educational job. All doors to the four largest major school districts are closed to her. She said she didn't care, and at

the time, she was very angry. She cares now. How do I know? I saw the memo.

It's just not safe.

I am so sorry you had a horrible day. While I laugh at Shawn's suggestions; they are funny, I don't practice them. I rarely call the office. Mostly, I glare, sit down, and say, "You guys don't deserve me." I'm willing to help, but if you want to dance around and behave like crazy people, while.... HOWEVER, these are my rules: No throwing of furniture, books, or school property. No bothering people that don't want to misbehave like you. No hasseling neigboring classes, and NO ONE, NO ONE, NO SINGLE ONE OF YOU will get a piece of sugar from me and I have terrific Jolly Ranchers lollies and you're out of luck. I even brought (usually a couple of teen magazines) and NO ONE will get anything from me (LONG PAUSE) except for this wonderful quiet, gentle, well behaved child. (CHOOSE ONE, the least disruptive of all of them and indulge him or her.)
