Not totally on maths but some Olympic Ideas.

We have our own mini Olympics complete with opening ceremonies, a variety of games, and award ceremony. This is one of the highlights of the summer. One staff member oversees
each "sport" and the children move freely around the playground participating in as many event as they choose. Some of the games we have are: Standing Broad Jump- We mark off inches and feet on a long piece of heavy paper and laid it in the sand area. Let children take turns jumping to see how far they can jump.
Javelin- Let the children throw straws to see how far they go.
Discus
Throw- Use paper plates
Shot Put- Ping pong balls or a paper ball
Basketball throw (I know this is winter Olympics but we do it anyway)
Volleyball- we put up the little tykes net that we have and play a simplified version of volleyball where the children catch the ball and toss it back across the net.
Relay races- We don't have teams run against each other. Just have the children run a distance passing off a "stick" made of rolled up paper rolled up paper their teammates. They enjoy just doing that.
Obstacle course- Set up an obstacle course using things to crawl through and over. We time each child and tell them how many seconds it took.
Bicycle Races- Use a stop watch to let each child know how many seconds it took for them to run a course.
You take the tube sock and put a ball inside the children then twirl it above their heads and then they let it go to see who could throw it the farthest. I never heard them laugh so much.

We hold the Pajama Olympics. We start with a teddy bear race. You have to carry your stuffed bear on your back to the finish line. (everybody wins) We also have the pillow case race. Instead of a sack we use a pillow case. Make the race area short and use a large gym mat for safety. Next we have a pancake race. The children have to relay cardboard "pancakes" back and forth in a light weight frying pan. We finish our "olympics" with an award ceremony. Gold medals are given to each child. We then have a bedtime story and our parent volunteers have cookies and milk ready for our snack. Then its off to nap time. Quite a fun day. We usually have 4 classes participating at the same time.

We made Olympic gold medals for our Mini-Olympics by gluing gold foil covered chocolate "money" onto a card circle backing. It's great fun to eat your medal after the games
Edible Olympic Torch
You need: 1 sugar cone for each child
Lemon, orange or raspberry sherbet
Sugar sprinkles in yellow, orange and red
Give each child a cone filled with sherbet (you can use any one or a combination of the flavors listed) then have them sprinkle on the sugar and enjoy!
Olympic Emblems" Give each child 5 vanilla wafers. Have children frost cookies: 1 red, 1 black, 1 blue, 1 yellow, and 1 green. (Mix canned white frosting with food coloring pastes.) We had a "Teddy Bear Olympics", and stuck a matching gummy bear to each frosted wafer.
I lvoe the Olympics and so do the kids. Great time to learn about the country that is hosting it. :)
