Teaching and family By L.P.

My son was 10 when I started going to college at night plus working during the day as an assistant. I was very, very busy for the next 5 years as I earned my degree. My husband was really understanding and helped where he| could. I always found the time to help my son with his homework even if it meant mine waited and I lost sleep doing it. Getting enough sleep seemed to be the hardest part. I would often fall asleep doing some of the more boring homework! And there isn't much down time. You have to be very organized and other things do suffer. I don't worry a whole lot about housework, we do the maintenance | | things every day and the rest gets done when there's time. After doing all that for 5 years, subbing is a whole lot easier although that may change now that I am signed up with another district. Once I get my own classroom, though, I imagine there will be more of a drain on my time what with meetings and planning to do. I do enjoy having holidays off with my son. And this summer will be my first summer not going to college! I won't know what to do with myself! :o}
