Being in the private schools and only teaching third grade this is not an issue I've had to deal with. If it were to come up, I suppose I would have to take the stance of many of you on the opposition.
I'm not homophobic, I have gay friends and a gay family member, that does not however mean that I condone or disapprove of the behavior.
I do remember an instance when my sister was in high school and received Saturday School for telling a kid 'Don't be gay!'. She meant it in the 'Don't be lame' sense, but the administration said she was questioning his sexuality. As much as my mother | |
didn't agree with the punishment, she backed the administration and shipped my sister off to Saturday school. What happened to the days of parent's siding with the teachers and administrators???
