I treat comments like that like I do any other "put down". I tell them it isn't tolerated. I knew of a middle school teacher who used to tell kids, "Sucks to be you!" when they were upset about something. I can't imagine saying something like that to a kid, let alone anyone else. It is inappropriate. :(

I get angry about the phrase "That's so gay." I don't allow the "It sucks." They are both rude and put downs. Gay should mean "happy" and frankly I don't buy that it means, "lame or ridiculous".That is NOT how it started. :mad:

It's rude. Plain and simple, rude. It's like calling people "retards" or saying, "You are so retarded." It is totally WRONG.:rolleyes:
