Interesting question
By yogi

Clip to ScrapBook
Since I teach primary, I don't know that I've ever had kids say 'That's so gay" but to be honest I used to say that all the time in H.S. without even realizing the implication that gay=stupid or less than. If a student said
that in my classroom I would discuss with them that it was not an appropriate way to describe their feelings about something. I would probably stop short of discussing the meaning of the word gay. I have not ever incorporated 2 moms or dads into my math problems, in fact I've never thought about it which is strange because I make an effort to use names in problems other than the typical
"John and Susie." I think I'd be afraid to go there, especially with young kids.

That being said, sexual preference is discussed with my own children and I would have no issues if my children's teacher's discussed it in their classroom. But then, I'm a flaming liberal!
