I don't acknowledge it as a put down. I say how is that happy. The student in question usually looks at me with that, "She's lost it again look." I then explain that the original definition of the term in question. I
know that may not be politically correct, but I feel that I have taught them that not all words mean what they think to everyone that they are talking with.

I think it is funny that you bring up this phrase. I heard it for the first time so long ago that I thought you have to be kidding. The people using it said it like every other phrase. I found it to be extremely annoying
to me. I truly dislike this phrase after spending hours with people who had nothing else to say. I find it almost as bother some as "What the..."

The sad thing is my DS has now started using both of these and finds me fuming in seconds over these two phrases.:mad:
