4 aides
By eagertolearn

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach a 2/3 classroom with a student who is blind and in a wheelchair, 2 students with autism and 1 student who needs monitoring for his physical outburts, each student is supposed to have a fulltime aide. At times it can
be a circus as the aides transition in and out (their schedules are all different, and their lunch breaks and regular breaks are all at different times, so more people are in and out to cover their breaks). While there intentions are good, they can undo the work I am working on with the kids by telling the answer, engaging them in conversations during quiet reading times and work times,
let the children off the hook when a consequence was applied. The aides are also jockeying for who is top dog. At times I wish there was only 1 aide to cut down on the interuptions.
