One of my favorite activities is to show students the picture Michaelangelo painted on the ceiling of the cathedral in Europe and discuss the history of it. Then we tape paper under our desks and paint scenes from our favorite books. The kids love it, and it's pretty quiet because they are all concentrating really hard.
