Hi Dove! Your situation sounds a lot like mine. I'm only 19. I started subbing to see if I would like to major in elementary education myself. I was a psych major, but I'm reconsidering that. I've only subbed in elementary schools, so all the insight I have is related to that. First off, it's a lot easier to start off tough and then loosen up then it is to regain control. I always go in with a lot tougher attitude and adjust it according to the behavior in the class. Most of my experiences have been very positive. The kids love new faces and most will be very respectful to you. The elementary kids love their recess, so that's a pretty effective punishment if it's needed. Also silent lunch works well.
