Thanks to you who have responded so quickly. I feel for you, Shawn. Here we have an automated calling system so we can get jobs as far as 60 days ahead. I can also turn one down without any more than selecting a menu refusal choice, including illness, car trouble, jury duty, funeral, religious holiday, and working in another district. We can pre-arrange,too, and get requests that nobody else can take until 12 hrs. before the job starts. The district offers teacher training in various areas that subs, called guest teachers here,can also take, a few for pay. Still, the rest of the system treats us like second class citizens. Is it because many subs are no longer certified?
